Numerical modelling of an Inductively coupled plasma torch: application to Mars and Titan atmospherics entries

Plasma inductive torch is a complex multi-physic problem involving fluid dynamic, electromagnetism and radiation equations. The present talk is especially dedicated to the electromagnetic part of the problem when we deal with several couplings between the eddy-current, the thermal and the electromagnetic fields. After a short presentation od the global problem, we give the numerical modelling based on a finite element method.The main difficulty we highlight in the talk is a precise description of the fields when employing very high frequencies such as 64 Mhz usually employed in experimental set-up.
