A review of the equivalence problem is given. A spacetime is locally completely determined by the Riemann tensor and a finite number of its covariant derivatives in a frame with constant metric. This result is used for a classification algorithm in terms of fixed frames. The algorithm is implemented in the computer program CLASSI. The description can also be used to construct new spacetimes directly in terms of invariant quantities.
