The Geometry and Topology group has 6 members, 4 of which hold a Ph.D. degree. In collaboration with researchers from other centres, in Portugal and abroad, the members of the group carry out research in Algebraic Topology (Homotopy Theory, Lusternik-Schnirelmann Category, Applications of Algebraic Topology), Differential Topology (PL manifolds), and Differential Geometry (Generalized Geometry, Special Holonomy).

The members of this research group participate(d) in several research projects: the project GEOTOP, financed by FCT (2003-2007), the project Categoria de Lusternik-Schnirelmann, financed by GRICES/CNRS (2003-2004), the project Geometry and special Holonomy, financed by  FCT (2004-2007).

The members of the Geometry and Topology group organize seminars and short courses.
