Structured Additive Regression (STAR) models is a rich framework that allows the presence of a wide range of covariates while simultaneously exploring possible spatial and temporal correlations. In this seminar we will present the results of STAR modeling in two medical databases. The first one comprises 212 517 registries of women taking part in the Breast Screening Program of central Portugal in the last 20 years, and the second databased includes information from all confirmed TB (Tuberculosis) cases reported in Portugal between 2000 and 2010.
